Focus on what matters

Where your attention goes your energy flows.

Have you ever wondered why some days are just so stressful and laborious no matter how hard you try to get things right, that they just go from bad to worse and you end up been exhausted from your efforts or worse still, second guessing your capabilities when the facts are, you are more than capable for the task at hand.

Of course there will be situations where it is inevitable that things won't always go right, but do you crumble at the first hurdle and accept, "it is what it is ", or do you look for a deeper reason ? Could the reason be that your attention was else where perhaps ?

Here is a short story that may resonate..... and considering it's almost new years day, we will use that as our starting point.

Your intention was to go to the shops and get in some nice wholesome food so your entire family could enjoy a new years dinner together. Your attention however was focused on who would be sitting beside each other at the dinner table and would your siblings be bringing their partners, some of whom you don't really have a great relationship with. The thought of this alone sent your mind into overload, and multiple questions began to pop up, one after the other.

Your attention was completely focused on the if's and's and but's that arose in your mind, and you allowed each thought to consume your energy and focus.

On the way to the shops you suddenly remember you forgot to bring your shopping bags, as you were still reminiscing on the lay out of the seating arrangements, what you would be wearing, will your kids be good, who will attend and who won't, and so on and on and on......

You turned your car around to go back for your shopping bags, and once you got them you put the foot down on the gas as you were already running late in order to get back home and unpack the shopping before the kids were ready to be picked up from their friends house, when all of a sudden, CRASH;;;;;;;; You were not paying attention to the car in front of you braking and you hit them in the rear.

Thankfully no one was injured, but both vehicles required extensive costly repairs. Now your attention goes into overdrive, and a new set of questions and scenarios begin to consume you.

What will I say to the guards ? What was I thinking ? I hope the other occupants don't try to sue me..... Will new years dinner have to be cancelled now ? What will the insurance company say ? Will my partner be frustrated with me considering he had only got the car serviced before the winter months kicked in ? Who will pick the kids up now ? My siblings partners will love getting this news....the cunts....and so on and on

Now lets rephrase the short story..... and focus on the attention to the task at hand....

Your intention was to go to the shops and get in some wholesome food so your entire family could enjoy a new years dinner together, Your attention was fully focused on the task at hand. You picked up your shopping bags, and set off to the store where you picked up the finest of fresh wholesome foods that had just come out onto the shelves. You were on fire, you even picked up some deserts for afterwards.

You even remembered to purchase the most important gift of all, Mo Khuisle Irish Candle, that you had ordered online at mokhuisle.ie. Where your attention goes your energy flows..... mokhuisle.ie
